How do we find Hope, Inspiration, and Motivation in our day-to-day life? Why is it so important? Inspirational thoughts and ideas will keep you going during this challenging times. When faced with what is seemingly an insurmountable challenge such as unemployment, it is hard sometimes to find anything positive in one’s situation.

I read inspirational articles or passages to maintain a positive attitude. I consciously seek positive individuals who can help me get out of the rut and stay focused in my job search.

I stumbled upon GLOW Project one night while I was so discouraged and down. The stories of these remarkable and successful women gave me hope and inspiration to face the unknown; to take a hard look at my life; to figure out where I want to go on this next journey.

Do you ever wonder why some people succeed while others constantly struggle and fail to achieve whatever goal they have? Do you ever notice how some just seem to have the "IT" factor and everything just seemed to fall on their lap without effort.... or does it really?

The GLOW Project is a very profound movie of successful, impassioned women who overcome incredible challenges to find their GLOW and live life on their own terms. It is a movie that will help women and men, too, change their outlook; succeed while others struggle. See the GLOW Project. Be inspired and motivated to find your GLOW and be positively changed forever!

I read inspirational passages everyday. It is amazing how much it can lift your spirit and give you the push to take action. I find that when I read inspirational passages, I slowly change my mind set and start having positive thoughts. With that, my outlook on what is happening around me also changes. I become undaunted by what seems to be an insurmountable challenges and more confident that I will overcome these challenges.

I was at a networking event a few weeks ago and the speaker made a recommendation. He said, try to say this everyday for the next 30 days. "Today something good will come." It is a very simple sentence, yet, if you start the habit of saying it and believing it, it can dramatically change how your day will go. Try it! You have nothing to lose and see what happens.

My favorite verses below from Think and Grow Rich talk about the law of autosuggestion and I hope these will awaken you to the realization that it is within you to choose success or failure.

  • "If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't,
If you like to win, but think you can't,
It is almost certain you won't.

  • If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in the state of mind.

  • If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

  • Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!"

Be grateful. When I am down and discouraged, I focus on all my big and small accomplishments, my family and others who support me in many ways, and all the blessings I received everyday. I remind myself and give thanks that I still have food on the table, roof over our head while we have given up a lot of other niceties that we took for granted. It improves my thinking, how I approach everyday's challenges and struggles. This has a positive effect on my relationship with everyone around me. I found that I am in a better frame of mind in my job search.

Another way I do it is I take the time to remember other people who have done something good in my life. Those who impacted my life in a very positive way. I found that when I do this, I move out of focusing on my self, the self-pity, the anger and all the negative emotions that sometimes overwhelm me. When I do this, it puts me into a different perspective that inspite of my circumstances today, I still have so much to be grateful for and to look forward to.

Today, I ask you to join me in the Gratitude Challenge.

What is the Gratitude Challenge? The challenge is to express gratitude to a least 1 person a day, anywhere in the world, for any reason, for 30 consecutive days by sending them a real greeting card with a heartfelt message using the SendOutCards system.

"When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears." - Tony Robbins

With the Thanksgiving in the horizon, I encourage you to remember and reach out to anyone who made a difference in your life by sending a free card SendOutCards.

My favorite author, Jack Canfield, wrote about gratitude in his book, The Success Principles(TM): How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. Basically he talks about when we are in the state of appreciation, we are in the highest vibrational state possible. When we are in the state of appreciation and gratitude, we are in abundance.

Ever heard of the Law of Attraction? This is how the law of attraction works. Like attracts like. By being grateful, we focus on what we have received instead of what we lack or what others have that we don't have. By being grateful, we are shifting our consciousness to attracting more that we will be grateful for.

Another important point I took from reading this book is while we appreciate what we have received, we also need to appreciate ourselves. It sounds simple but I realized how we sometimes neglect appreciating ourselves and our God-given talents that we unselfishly share with others.

Believe in yourself and stay positive. No matter how hard it is to find another job, believe there is going to be another opportunity for you.

Believe that you are still the same valuable employee with skills and experience that another company will need. You are still the same person as before you lost your job.

Believe that being laid off is not a reflection on you or your fault. A lot of times, lay off happens due to poor management, the lack of foresight on the company’s part to prepare and meet the ever-changing challenges businesses face especially in today’s environment. It is not a poor reflection of you.

Look to the bright side and think positively that every step of the way is a learning experience. Your positive mental state and attitude will reflect or show when you talk to people or during your interview. Having a positive frame of mind will greatly help your chances of being hired.

Celebrate Successes, big and small. Sometimes it is hard to feel successful when you still don’t have a job.

I sometimes feel emotionally let down after responding to numerous job postings, talking to people, sending follow-up emails, etc. and I feel I am not making progress. For someone who is always hard on oneself, I learned to step back and recognize the positive outcome of what I just did and equates this to success.

For example, I had a goal to attend a professional group meeting and to network with at least 5 people. I accomplished this and one of my connections offered to review my resume and provide me with some feedback and suggestions to improve it.

Even though I did not find a job that day, I now consciously recognize that I had successfully accomplished what I set out to do. In the past, I would be hard on myself for not accomplishing exactly what I set out to do but I now learned that success comes in all forms, big and small.

What is important is understanding your emotional and mental state, recognizing when you need help, and dealing with it. Know you are not alone and there are many resources, networks available to help you and a lot of people who are willing to provide support.

Foster a positive attitude and believe in a bright future ahead of you!!

I leave you with my favorite piece on Faith from the book, Think and Grow Rich:

Have Faith in yourself; faith in the Infinite

Faith is the "eternal elixir" which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought!

Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!

Faith is the basis of all "miracles" and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!

Faith is the only known antidote for failure!

Faith is the element, the "chemical" which, when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence.

Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into the spiritual equivalent.

Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man!

I just read this from Bryan Tracy's blog - In dealing with adversity, perhaps one of the most important positive affirmations you can remember is this: “This, too, shall pass.” Whatever it is, however difficult it may appear, say to yourself, “This, too, shall pass.”

Have you ever watched something on television that totally moved you? I did when I watched the first episode of The X Factor. Watch Staci Francis and you'll see how inspiring her story is.

Have you been following the 2012 Olympics? There were numerous inspirational moments from athletes all over the world. What I learned from them are traits that we all should have to succeed in finding a job - patience, perseverance, focus, belief in one's ability and the will to succeed. Gabby Douglas and her family serve as an inspiration to me. With insurmountable odds, Gabby stayed the course to pursue her dream.

Like Gabby, our dreams are as important as an Olympian dream. So don't lose your faith no matter how bleak the future looks....when you can't seem to see the end of the endless job search. I, too, in my most down moments have to remind myself that "this, too, shall pass". Keep the faith!

"Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you." - Thomas Jefferson
